My wife and I stopped here on our way from Jacksonville to Daytona on A1A (beach front avenue….OK, now you have that song stuck in your head). We were looking for seafood and a view. We selected the Oceanside Beach Bar and Grill because the view was awesome and there were a lot of cars in the parking lot (almost always the sign of a good restaurant). We were seated right away and we ate out on the lower deck.
The service was great and everyone had genuine smiles on their faces. I was impressed how they worked as a team. We saw 5 different people and they were all eager to help. A very nice lady that I took for the owner even stopped by as we were leaving.
I wish I could echo everyone’s reviews on the food, but our experience was mixed. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the fish po boy…both came with fries. My fish was really greasy. OK, yes, I ordered fish and chips which is deep fried, but if the fryer oil is hot enough (and they give the fish time to drain), you should not get a puddle of grease in the plate. Even with it being greasy, it was tasty and the fries were not as greasy. Their homemade coleslaw was great. My wife and I have different tastes on coleslaw (I like a mayonnaise based slaw). This was not to her tastes, so I had her portion too.
All in all, it was not an unpleasant experience. If we’re ever in that area again, I’d love to try this one again and be able to write a better review.
